People need to be way more realistic about what generally conservative GM will put in a car it's trying to make mass market. Don't expect the hand built, certain titanium internal parts flagship N/A LS7 engine anywhere near this car. It would price it out of the majority of customers reach. The V8 performance version is already going to be touching $40k if not starting in that area like the G8 GXP.
Don't be surprised if they pull another G8 GT. They had the LS2 and LS3 in the works but decided to mix it up using neither and instead blending an LS2 block with LS3 heads, mild cam, big compression cut and a respectable but meager 361HP.
At this point I'm betting on more of a 5.3 based V8 mass market version and a low production specialty version seeing an LS3. Keep in mind there are far more casual fans who would pay for 350-400HP than hardcore forum nuts like us that demand a 700HP slay-all super version. This car has to be a seller. If this car is to stay alive, I4/V6 and cost appropriate performance will be the name of the game, not street dominance.
